The Social Network

Setup:

We meet the characters of Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and the Winlevoss twins.  This is also when we are introduced to the idea of Facebook.

Dramatic Action:

When Mark steals the idea of Facebook from the twins and they find out, a series of events take place.  The twins send Mark and Eduardo cease and desist letters, but Facebook gets stronger and more popular and Mark hires more people including Sean Parker, who turns Mark against Eduardo.  During this portion of the movie, we also jump back and forth through time to the two law suits Mark is facing. One against Eduardo and the other agains the Winklevoss twins.

Resolution:

The movie comes to a close at the end of the day where the law suit against Eduardo is taking place and through captions at the bottom of the screen, we learn the ultimate resolution of the all the law suits and what has happened to the characters since the period of time where the movie takes place.

The Dark Knight

Setup:

We are introduced to the Joker and his antics through a bank robbery.  We are also re-introduced to Bruce Wayne/Batman and learn where his life is in terms of his relationship with Rachel (who is dating the District Attorney, Harvey Dent) and that there are starting to be Batman copycats that only manage to get in his way.

Dramatic Action:

The Joker begins to terrorize the city, and targets all the mob banks.  Bruce works to stop the Batman with the help of Commissioner Gordon, but he is unsuccessful.  The Joker assassinates a Judge, the Chief of Police, Rachel, and attempts to murder Jim Gordon (who is promoted to Lieutenant) and Harvey Dent, who becomes the villain two-face.

Resolution:

Batman helps the police to capture The Joker, but cannot help Harvey.  In then end Harvey is killed and Batman is on the run.
